Q1.Swanky Mag: Hello Daria, Can you introduce yourself to Swanky Magazine's readers? Can you tell us a little about you?
Hello! I live in Moscow, but my mother city is Saint-Petersburg. I'm a design engineer, also now a little bit programmer and - of course - my heart with photography.
Q2. How, and when did you get into photography? and Why did you choose creative direction as a career?
I started taking photos 3 years ago when helped my friend with his promo for theater performances. I liked this activity and decided to devote ьнrself to photography.
Q3.What does photography mean to you?
This is my way of expressing my vision of the world. Also, I really like to show people, that they are very fantastic and beautiful.
Q4.Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers, and Which area of fashion do you specialize in?
My genre is fine art, and I love to immerse models in a fairy tale. That can be dark beauty or something gentle. I like fairy dresses, magic make-up and fantastic stories in the photos.
Q5.Where do you get your inspiration from?
I always watch other cool photographers like Anastasia Dobrovolskaya, Maria Lipina, Natalia Lefay, Amina Donskaya, and others. They all get great inspiration for me! I also get inspiration in films, music, and other people.
Q6. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
Yeah, I collect many references. That will be such a mistake to think, that you can do everything without a plan, but it doesn't work like that) I have an idea - I start working with it long before taking photos.
Q7.Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
No-no, I'm not a professional at all! It is my hobby that I really like.
Q8. What has been your most memorable session, and why?
My first memorable session was in 2020 when I was at a workshop with models Olga Chaborina and Alexandra Cherkashina. I really loved these girls, they both are professionals. That was my dream to see them. I really loved taking part in this session!
Q9. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
I had an old Canon a year ago, and that was my first camera with all my memories and first sessions. Today I have Fujifilm x-t30 and like it. It's fast, light, convenient and modern. I think that mirrorless camera can conquer the world in the future.
Q10. According to you, what are the skills that are necessary for becoming a successful photographer/creative director? Also, what is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer/retoucher/creative director looking to start their own business?
I think it's necessary to work hard and constantly learn new things in photography. You can't give up at the first failure. Follow the accounts of great photographers, train your observation, and most importantly - take photos!
