PHOTOGRAPHER SPOTLIGHT | Kim L. Fraser
Q1.Swanky Mag: Hello Kim, Can you introduce yourself to Swanky Magazines readers?
Can you tell us a little about you?
Hi, I’m Kim. I am a Brooklyn (NY) based photographer. I believe it’s my job to give everyone a
fantastic photo. I started Photography 2 years ago as a hobby and ever since I’ve been
obsessed with finding the perfect light.
Q2.How and when did you get into photography?
I started photography about 2 years ago. It started out just as a hobby.
Q3.What does photography mean to you?
Photography is like therapy to me, it lets me relax. It’s a way for me to repress my creativity.
Q4.Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I’d say my style is clean using creative lighting. I’m always trying different light techniques.
Q5.Where do you get inspiration from?
I get inspiration from movies, album covers, my city, and other creatives.
Q6.Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
Yes, before everyone I usually have an idea of how I want the photos to look and feel.
Q7.Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
I’m both. I still love just going out and shooting random things when I'm not working on my
client’s project.
Q8. What has been your most memorable session and why?
I’d have to say the first session when I actually understand studio lighting. Making that light do
exactly what I wanted was amazing.
Q9. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
Started out using Canon but now I use Sony.
Q10. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to
start their own business?
Keep breaking stuff and keep experimenting one day it will all click.
Q11. What do you think of our new magazine?
I just love the diversity and creativity that you guys publish.
