With his detailed eye for all things beauty and her fabulous editorial captures we caught up with Adrianna to ask a little more about her journey!
Q1.Swanky Mag: Hello Adrianna, Can you introduce yourself to Swanky Magazine's readers? Can you tell us a little about you?
Hi! I’m Adrianna Aguilera, I am a mother of two, my son Tyler is where some of my crazier ideas come from, and when I’m not behind the lens or getting creative with my littles I’m a shift supervisor at my local Starbucks! My photography business gets its’ name from my daughter Gwyneth and the love that both my husband and I have for penguins. I love getting to meet new people and helping them get to see just how amazing they are through my work.
Q2. How and when did you get into photography?
My interest in photography started out in high school and developed into being chosen art form from there.
Q3.What does photography mean to you?
It means freedom for me, I know that sounds cheesy but it has always been the way that I have chosen to express my ideas, feelings, and emotions. It has helped me through the trials of my life and helped ground me.
Q4.Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I don’t think I really have a style of photography in particular; my shots and editing will always be influenced by what concept I’m trying to capture or the people I am shooting.
Q5.Where do you get your inspiration from?
A lot of my inspiration comes from my love of fiction, it can also be inspired by the place I have chosen for a set.
Q6. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
I don’t always put forethought into a project unless it is a specific look that I’m trying to create, some of the best shots I’ve ever done have happened accidentally.
Q7. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
I would consider myself a paid professional.
Q8. What has been your most memorable session, and why?
I think my most memorable session was one that I did very early on in my career at one of the oldest cemeteries in California. We shot a mashup of pinup/ Dia De Los Muertos and not only did we get to meet a lot of interesting people during the shoot because we shot it around Dia De Los Muertos but we also got someone to pull over who was driving down the street at the end of our set so that we could use is classic Chevy for some shots as well. The models I worked with that day were amazing and we created some really beautiful work that day, it was one of those moments where everything was falling into place in an amazingly unexpected way.
Q9. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
I have actually shot with both and I can honestly say that I don’t have a preference. I haven’t found a favorite lens yet but I have a few new ones on the way that just might change that.
Q10. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
Keep going, don’t let people discourage you. Work hard, grow your craft, and don’t give up. If there are people who appreciate your art, take the compliment, even when you don’t see it yourself.
Q11. What do you think of our new magazine?
I’m very excited to be a part of it. I love your quote on your Instagram, I think that when we put limits on the creative, we limit our potential as individuals and as a species.
