Olivia Cohen Interview: My goal is to empower other women to feel beautiful and confident in their own skin.

Swanky Magazine Interviews the wonderfully talented model - Olivia Cohen

MODEL SPOTLIGHT | Olivia Cohen from New York

Q1. Swanky Mag: Hello Olivia, Can you introduce yourself to Swanky Magazine's readers?

Hi, I'm Olivia, but my friends call me Livv.

Q2. How did you get involved with modeling, and what do you love most about being a model?

I actually fell backward into modeling. I am an avid skateboarder, so I am at the skate park almost every day. One day, a photographer asked if he could shoot me doing some tricks and, I loved the experience. He asked me if I had done any other photoshoots before, to which I replied “No but, I would love to!”.

Q3. What fuels your imagination and provides you with inspiration.

My goal is to empower other women to feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. I am always pushing to be the best version of myself I can be. I also truly believe it is important to show your failures as well as successes.

Q4. Let us into a secret, What is a beauty trick you do before a photoshoot?

Beauty sleep is REAL and super important! I make sure to get enough rest the night of my shoots.

Q5. What has been your most memorable session, and why?

The first paid shoot I went to, I was filmed as a model for a music video. I had an entire bucket of slime, (cake batter and food coloring), dumped over my head! It was definitely a fun and unique experience.

Q6. when did you get into Make-up/Hair and Styling?

I have always expressed myself in my own unique aesthetic and, it has been evolving since I can remember. I started changing my hair color with bright dyes as early as 15. I believe the other kids wanted to blend in, but, I used clothing, hair, and makeup to express my individuality.

Q7. Which area of makeup do you specialise in?

Did you always want to work in that area? I never used to wear makeup, let alone know how to put it on correctly. As soon as I realized how expensive hiring MUAS can be when building a portfolio, I turned to the internet. I watched videos and researched how to do my own makeup for photography. To this day, I am still learning but, I have a new passion for makeup.

Q8. What’s the hardest part of your job?

Trusting myself and my abilities. No one can be confident 24/7, so on the days I don’t feel great or I’m a bit anxious, I’ll have to give myself a pep talk, which can be difficult at times.

Q9. Name a makeup product could you not live without?

Burt’s bees facial cleanser! After a long day of shooting, this stuff will wash away ALL of the grime, sweat, and makeup while gently exfoliating your skin.

Q10.Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

I am working toward being a paid professional. It takes a lot of hard work, but it's worth the effort.

Q11. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new Make-up Artist/Model or Stylist looking to start their own business?

Don’t give up on yourself. If you believe in your work and you are persistent, you CAN make it.

Q12. What projects are you working on next, and what are your goals for the future?

I am currently on Kavyar and Backstage.com as Livv Carter, looking for paid opportunities as a model and actress. In the future, I would like to work full time in modeling, acting, and filmmaking.
