Swanky Magazine Interviews the wonderfully talented retoucher - Simona Pistolozzi
PHOTOGRAPHER SPOTLIGHT | ITALY / PISTOIA - Tuscany
Q1.Swanky Mag: Hello, Can you introduce yourself to Swanky Magazine's readers? Can you tell us a little about you?
Hello! I'm Simona Pistolozzi, I was born in Italy a few years ago and I'm a Biologist but that wasn't enough for me and so a few years ago I left room for my passion for photography.
I am a photographer of glamour and artistic nude and my passion comes from the desire to capture the nuances of the female personality and reveal all its sensuality.
Q2. How, and when did you get into photography?
I have always been fascinated by photography, the first Kodak was given to me when I was 11 but I bought the first reflex five years ago, I'm practically self-taught. I started shooting for fun, with friends, buying books and photography magazines until I discovered photographic events thanks to a model, Elisa Pagano, who encouraged me a lot and who became a close friend.
Q3.What does photography mean to you?
For me photography is an expression, it is the representation of emotions, it is the discovery and revelation of the deepest part of me through the other.
Q4.Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I like the idea of calling my photograph “emotional” but mainly a photographer of glamour and artistic nude, which for me represents the true feminine essence, that is linked to sensuality and refined eroticism but I try not to limit it to a representation, I like the idea of arousing emotions in those who look at my photos, of capturing their attention as if she had been present at the time of the shooting.
Q5.Where do you get your inspiration from?
I draw inspiration from the personality of the person in front of the camera, I try to find out what goes beyond the model wing, and I look for deep nuances.
Q6. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
It almost never happens, I have an idea but I instinctively shoot, I believe that the shutter button of my camera is directly connected to the eye and my emotionality, I shoot what involves me.
Q7. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
Definitely a hobbyist, I shoot for passion
Q8. What has been your most memorable session, and why?
There were many but one, in particular, I asked Miriam Bellucci, the model, to use red lipstick to write on her body what she wanted to express, I simply told her “write me” and the set was very engaging.
Q9. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
Sony / Sigma Art 50 mm 1.4
Q10. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
I could only tell him to try to express himself because that's what makes the difference between your photography and that of others.
Q11. What do you think of our new magazine?
I find it very beautiful, very refined and it is an honor to have the opportunity to make myself known through your pages.
Thank you.
