Novados Swim Weekends in the Water Collection Debuting at Miami Swim Week
Presented by WAVE BID
Miami, Florida (June 20th, 2022) - Miami SwimWeek is back and it’s bigger than ever with more events being added to the calendar this year as Miami becomes a fashion capital in the US. One event added to the calendar is the Splashing Lights: 2022 Miami SwimWeek WAVE fashion show at 9 pm on July 15th and 16th. In partnership with iHeartmedia, this highly anticipated event will showcase Florida-based designers over 2 days, feature performances by Ginuwine and Jon B., and will include the runway debut of Novados Swim on the 16th.
Sponsored by Opuluxe Realty, and Yacht Direct, Novados Swim will debut their Weekends in the Water Summer 2022 collection, inspired by Miami Summers, on the 100-feet long Splashing Lights runway.
“I created a color palette that drew from Miami’s classic art deco aesthetic, and the vibrant tones you see in nature, and at the beach. The collection is bold, and energetic, with a hint of sensuality, like the energy you’re surrounded by on a weekend boat day,” says Novados owner and designer Ashanté Nicole.
Weekends in the Water will introduce a range of saltwater swim pieces created, in part, from recycled nylons; crochet, mesh and linen, bamboo, hemp jersey cover-ups; and new additions to the 100% Peruvian ultra Pima and Brazilian stretch cotton crochet collection.
Miami chic attire is required for admittance. Limited standing room tickets are available to the public for purchase at http://www.universe.com/splashinglightsmiami To learn more, visit

ABOUT NOVADOS SWIM
Launched in 2021, Novados Swim is an ethically sourced and sustainable handmade women’s swimwear collection, that is on a mission to slow the pace of the fashion cycle, and return to high-quality, slow fashion production.
Novados is the combination of Creative Director & Owner Ashanté Nicole's parents' origins; Nova Scotia and Barbados. With maternal lineage from Nova Scotia, the love of crocheting and knitting was formed when Ashanté learned both at the age of four. The draw to the ocean and swimwear is derived from her paternal Bajan lineage.
Using materials sourced in the USA and handmade in Miami, Fl, our fun and flirty crochet swimwear collection feature innovative designs in vibrant hues made exclusively from cotton and other naturally derived materials including hemp and bamboo. In addition, our made-to-order nylon suits are created from expertly sourced materials and produced in small quantities to reduce our carbon footprint.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Ashanté Nicole is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology. She received a B.S. in International Trade and Marketing for the Fashion Industries and an A.A.S in Fashion Merchandising Management.
After deepening her extensive knowledge of the fashion industry by working for six years in retail, her focus was wardrobing the customer. This allowed her to develop and fine-tune her eye for style. Her entry into the fashion world began in 2008 when she volunteered backstage for NYFW and has been in love ever since.
After receiving an internship opportunity in the BET wardrobe department, it became even more apparent to her that her heart was in wardrobing. As a stylist, she has worked with designers including Fashion Runway Alumni Malan Breton, The Sachika Twins, and retailers including Loehmanns, and more.
In the years since she has worked with celebrity photographers Anthony Winters and Christopher Kolk. She has obtained print placements in Elle, 20/20, Raine and Bella Magazine, and contributed wardrobe advice to Retail Me Not. Her greatest accomplishment was being the lead stylist for the Malan Breton Fantôme runway presentation during New York Fashion Week.
Over the last decade, she has also fine-tuned her skills as a digital marketing expert, working as a photo shoot producer and public relations manager. Past fashion clients include Project Runway Alumni Jason Troisi and Malan Breton, Nude Barre hosiery, BM Franklin & Co hats, and Activist Eyewear
