Veronica Beard: A Playful Twist on American Collegiate Prep
Veronica Beard brought a playful twist to American collegiate prep at their AW23 show during New York Fashion Week. The sister-in-law duo, Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard, showcased their new logo and heritage crest throughout the collection. The audience was also treated to a surprise musical performance by English actor, model, and singer Suki Waterhouse, who serenaded the crowd with her song "Neon Signs" as she walked down the famed spiral staircase in the old Barney’
The collection was a blend of tradition and innovation, with tailored suiting updated with corset details to cinch the waist and make it more wearable. Collegiate detailing and bold stripes paired with more traditional workwear adding a unique take on this collection. Other staples include maxi slip dresses, belted blazers and varsity-style sweaters.
The makeup and hair perfectly complemented the modern yet traditional vibe of the collection. Bobbi Brown, lead artist Romy Soleimani created a brown smoky eye look that was the focal point of the makeup. It was paired with glossy highlighter and nude lips to keep the focus on the eyes. Meanwhile, Aveda Guest Artist Jon Reyman of Spoke & Weal salons created an undone, nomadic, and effortlessly cool hairstyle. He pulled back the hair into a ponytail bun hybrid with a bit of texture with a polished yet undone feel.
