SINGER-SONGER WRITER SPOTLIGHT | Nita La Grin from Belarus.

Nita La Grin is an alternative singer-songwriter from Belarus. Her music is noted for her cinematic quality, and exploration of themes of personal freedom, human wickedness, and tragic romance. In her youth, she was exposed to bullying by her peers and to violence by her family. Her life was so unbearable that after her best male friend's death, she even thought about suicide. Only music, love, and desire to live life differently kept her alive. At the age of 14, Nita released her first song titled "Change your life" which was dubbed one of the "Best pop-rock songs" by more than 10 radio stations in CIS countries. Nita is a self-made woman who learned the hard way and put some valuable experience into her creative work becoming a wise friend and a teacher for her fans.

Q1. Swanky Mag: Hello Nita La Grin, Can you introduce yourself to Swanky Magazine's readers?

Hi there, Swanky Mag. Thank you for having me today! First of all, I'm an alternative singer-songwriter, record producer, model, image-maker, and music video director. You know, If you had one expression you would use to describe me, it would be a "one-person band". Really. I don't limit myself to personal expression. Never.

Q2. How did you get involved with songwriting, and what do you love most about being an artist?

Oh, I have a story for you to tell. Actually, I have been singing and performing since my childhood. But I was 13 only when I got involved with songwriting. The reason was my obsession with a famous rock musician. I thought somehow that the only way to pay his attention to me was becoming a famous singer-songwriter myself. So I started to make my own music and It did the trick. Replying to your second question, expressing myself and inspiring others are my favorite things about being an art worker. Yes, indeed they are.

Q3. What fuels your imagination and provides you with inspiration?

Great ideas usually come to me while doing sport. Every time I run, I come up with the ideas of my future songs, the narratives of my music videos. It's incredible. The idea that I can make something better and somebody stronger and wiser will always be my source of inspiration. I am a self-made woman who learned the hard way and puts some valuable experience into her creative work. First of all, I want to be a wise friend to my fans, not an idol.

Q4. Who are your biggest influences?

I was lucky to be raised on old rock but you know, nobody would ever say this if they listened to my songs. I never try to imitate others while making my songs and music videos. I gave up on being like somebody as a teenager. I want to go on as me.

Q5. What projects are you working on next, and what are your goals for the future?

Now I'm getting ready to shoot my new music videos. I came up with two challenging narratives for them while jogging but what can I do? My imagination wants what it wants. I'm nervous a bit, but I'll do it.
