About Stel

Astrid Andersen is the visionary founder and Creative Director of STEL. The name "STEL," which means "Body" in Danish, reflects the brand's vision of creating collectible foundational garments.

Andersen believes that clothing should serve the wearer, with a focus on movement, agency, and empowerment.

"This is tailoring you can skate in, denim you can dance in, and shirts you can travel in." - Astrid Andersen

Inspired by a blend of design, art, architecture, and Andersen's Scandinavian heritage, each piece features intuitive design, meticulous attention to detail, and high-quality materials. The precise proportions create softly powerful shapes that offer flexibility and adaptability, empowering the wearer while supporting STEL's goal of lifetime wear.

STEL Collections are organised by number and designed for in-season presentation, emphasising relevance over traditional seasonality. Collection Items can be blended across buying seasons, both in customers' wardrobes and in the retail space.

Stel AW25

Following its successful launch in 2024, the fashion and lifestyle womenswear brand STEL returns to Copenhagen Fashion Week with its inaugural on-schedule show. Founder and Creative Director Astrid Andersen presented COLLECTION 03 at the Danish architecture studio BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group's HQ, styled by Vogue contributor Julia Sarr-Jamois.

Each collection builds upon the previous one, reinforcing Andersen's mantra of "tailoring you can skate in, denim you can dance in, shirting you can travel in." COLLECTION 03, presented in-season, continues to explore the concept of a modular wardrobe, viewed through the inspiring lens of design, art, and architecture. For Andersen, fashion is deeply intertwined with architecture; the term "STEL" in Danish simply signifies a foundational structure, collectible, or set—representing the brand's commitment to creating sustainably-minded, timeless design essentials that naturally empower the wearer.

The world around me is always my inspiration. COLLECTION 03 is my way of industrialising nature. I consider shape and light similar to architecture and seek to understand how we engage and interact within our environments. When I launched STEL, I wanted to ensure a dialogue with the customer, aiming to refine our styles and offerings over time by intentionally creating pieces that are not only mindfully priced but also thoughtfully designed, adapting to our needs as we navigate the world. Presenting this third iteration at BIG HQ, a source of inspiration for me, and collaborating with Julia Sarr-Jamois, whom I admire and respect, feels incredible.

Key categories evident in COLLECTION 03 include fresh interpretations of Denim, Tailoring, and Outerwear, with a strong emphasis on wearability and comfort. Layered knitwear and shirting are featured in lightweight fabrics and new colorways, matcha and burnt orange. The barrel leg silhouette, which has become synonymous with the brand, is seen in both denim and a light-weight cotton, with double waistband detail. The relaxed tailored suit is updated for spring with trousers featuring split hem detail and a tie-waist blazer, in new colourway mud. Built-in flexibility and adaptability, hallmarks of STEL and a reflection of Andersen's training in menswear, showcase the designers ability to consider the wearer, with cut and silhouette fundamental to each piece. From cropped and layered tops, to jackets with adjustable ties, open-side seams, and alterable waistbands across tailored trousers - these are garments built to adapt to you.

The collection presented on the rooftop of BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group HQ, allowed for the perfect backdrop for Andersen’s salon-style show where friends, supporters and industry names gathered. The set featured Nawabari sofas and pouffes, a collaboration from BOConcept and BIG, which were artfully placed to create an environment reminiscent of a home or living space, encouraging guests to stay, chat and connect while having the opportunity to explore the collection up-close.

COLLECTION 03 can be found at UK stockist Selfridges, both online and in the Designer Studio on level 3 of the London flagship store, as well as at Storm Copenhagen and on its e-commerce site, Stelstores.com.
